How to get to Siena

By plane

There is no airport in Siena, so if you are travelling by plane you will have to land at a nearby airport: the airport of Florence-Peretola [FLR] is by far the closest one, situated 55km from the centre of Siena. Followed by Pisa [PSA], Perugia [PEG], Bologna [BLQ], Rome Fiumicino [FCO] and Rome Ciampino [CIA].

By train

Siena is easily reached by train. The best option is to take a train from Florence main station (Firenze Santa Maria Novella station), or Rome Termini. Visit the Trenitalia website for information on prices, timetables and purchasing tickets.

By bus

Siena is well connected to Florence main station by several long-distance buses (timetable).

By car

If you decide to drive to Siena, remember that the historic centre of Siena is accessible only for pedestrians, so knowing where to park your car is helpful (charges are about 2 Euro per hour or 35 Euro per day).
